Changing the World of Architecture
Goetsch-Winkler House Living Room (Weintraub 303)
Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural design elements were a major turning point in building design during the early to mid 1900's. Wright, a mainly self taught architect, used design elements to change the box-like structure of most residential and commercial buildings into open spaces that flowed and interacted with each other. Wright's building styles included the hanging cantilever system, principles of organic architecture, and the Prairie style home, all which revolutionized the world of architecture. Many of his stylistic ideas are still used today, and helped initiate changes in the way families socially interacted in their homes.
